Abstract

A comparative investigation of sports competition anxiety among male college-level handball and weightlifting players was the main goal of this research. In order to accomplish this, a sample of sixty participants was chosen at random for the study, thirty from each of the sports of handball and weightlifting. The participants' ages ranged from 18 to 25 years old. The Sports Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT), created by Martin Rainer in 1990, was the tool used to measure anxiety related to sports competitions. The subjects were given the SCAT questionnaire half an hour before the competition started. The study's premise stated that players of handball and weightlifting would not significantly differ in their anxiety levels related to sports competition. Examining the data in detail, an independent "t" test was used, and 0.05 was chosen as the predefined level of significance. Weightlifting athletes achieved an average of 19.50, while handball players received a mean score of 22.50. There was a significant difference in the anxiety levels of handball and weightlifting players, as demonstrated by the computed "t" value of 3.95. Notably, the estimated "t" value of 3.95 was higher than the tabulated "t" value of 1.675, confirming the observed difference's statistical significance.
