IMPACT OF R.K NARAYAN’S WORK ON INDIAN CULTURE
Abstract
R K Narayan is the most renowned Writer in English of his time. He was from South India and his books were full of cultural reflections from the place. The paper is reflecting upon how his work shows cultural , Societal , colonial , patriarchal dynamics of that time. The methodology used is quantitative analysis where review of literature by P Saikia , Sulekha Varma , A K Mandal , H Mann and many more shows how beautifully R K Narayan have depicted Indian Cultural context and the detailings are so simple and covering the topics like marriage , customs, beliefs hinduism, traditional norms etc . The purpose of the paper is to highlight the Indianness in the work of R K Narayan who has also portrayed Western concepts in his Writing. The research will be able to establish the fact that R K Narayan in his fictions have not depicted fictional culture , he has very much blended the realities smoothly in his writings.
